Launches Ultramid LowPCF and Ultramid BMB.

With the launch of Ultramid LowPCF (reduced Product Carbon Footprint) and Ultramid BMB (Biomass Balance), BASF expands its sustainable nylon 6 portfolio in North America and offers two new solutions that can help customers reduce PCF and achieve sustainability targets without sacrificing performance or changing existing operations or supply chains.
Both Ultramid LowPCF and Ultramid BMB are produced using renewable natural gas (RNG) derived from organic waste, which is attributed to these products through the mass balance approach. This enables each product to have a lower PCF compared to conventional grades.
Ultramid LowPCF achieves a 30% reduction in cradle-to-gate carbon footprint compared to conventional Ultramid grades, while Ultramid BMB goes even further, reducing the PCF by approximately 50%.
Designed for flexibility and scale, these solutions support a wide range of applications, including wire and cable; carpet and textile fiber; packaging and other consumer and industrial uses.
“Our nylon 6 customers are looking for practical, effective ways to reduce emissions without making changes to their formulations, operations, or supply chains,” says Florian Schaefer, business director, Polyamides and Precursors for BASF North America. “Ultramid LowPCF and Ultramid BMB check all the boxes: they are drop-in ready, cost-effective, and help companies meet their sustainability goals with the assurance they expect from BASF.”
